A considerable Chinese force is
said to be posted on a neighbouring island in Chinese
waters watching the operations, while a flotilla of
Chinese Gunboats is assisting in the blockade.
An amicable understanding
appears to exist between the Portuguese and Chinese
Authorities, whose endeavour seems to be to reduce the
pirates to subjection without giving rise to international
complications.
Seven Chinese boys who had been
kidnapped are said to have been rescued.
